Well this day started off badly to begin with! It was pouring down, we got there far too early because we didn't know that there were going to be 15+ ponies in each class before ours, each squashed into the little indoor, and classes have to be split because the entries were so huge!
Poor Dolsey had to wait for absolutely hours in the trailer while the rain came in onto her bum, which she wasn't too bothered about because she had her food! But we were totally fed up and bored of waiting. We were squished into a very small corner of the car park (Adlington is not built for days as busy as that!) and we moved the box about 3 times to try and get a better space!
Firstly we had the in-hand class. Dolsey was really good though a little strong (she was fed up of waiting around) and stood still like a good pony. Unfortunately the judge didn't like her that much in-hand and we got 5th out of about 9.
Next (about 3 hours later!!) was the ridden class. Dolsey was so fed up of waiting, she pulled me (which is unheard of with Dolsey LOL) straight into the indoor and stomped around in the walk round. We did the usual walk trot and canter as a ride and she was still stomping but she wasn't doing anything too naughty. We then got pulled in in any order and I was 3rd to do my show. Dolsey was going absolutely fantastically until I asked her to canter. :-(
She bucked 3 times, napped, and I was in total shock! She was going brilliantly but the judge is very hot on manners, we carried on though and she did a fab gallop. He put us right down the line because of naughtiness and we ended up 6th.
I had some very nice comments about her from him though, he said he wanted us 'MUCH' higher and he said some other things that I can't remember clearly, about Dolsey being naughty and him liking her a lot.
We got back at about half 5 after being at the show from about 11 o'clock, so a looong day!
We have decided that she needs to go out again before the Winter Champs in April, so will be going along to a Working Hunter show on the 25th March to do the ridden part of it, so hopefully we will get round the course of jumps clear so we are allowed to do the ridden part! If not, then I don't know what we will do!
